Wild Frontier Pirate Night

A wonderful night was had by all as we celebrated Wild Frontier’s 35th Birthday with a Pirate themed dance at Clovelley Park.

The hall was filled to the hilt with square dancers enjoying themselves. The costumes were great and it wasn’t always easy to tell who the pirates were in their colourful costumes.

The hall was beautifully decorated by the committee for the pirate theme and special mention must go to Roger and Helen who did a fantastic job of decorating the stage for Phillip and Jeff.

Square Dance Learners Class 2008

Wild Frontier Square Dance Club will be holding a weekly learners class starting Thursday 6th March 2008

Venue - All dances are held in the Kensington Park Uniting Church Hall (at rear of Church), 286 Kensington Road, Leabrook. The venue is centrally located to facilitate travel times from all parts of Adelaide.

All ages welcome. Come along and give square dancing a try. No dancing experience is necessary.

Don “the wallaby” Gillespie 1943 - 2007

We were saddened to hear of the sudden and unexpected death of Don Gillespie on the 23rd of August 2007.

Don was a unique personality who lived life to the full and injected fun into any activity he participated in. He will be missed in the square dancing community and especially his costumes, or lack there of.

A sunset ceremony was held at the SA Sea Rescue Squadron headquarters following the funeral, where twoÂ groups of squareÂ dancers danced to the music of “Light the Candles” in Don’s memory, and watched a slideshow of Don’s life.

Our thoughts are with Pam and Don’s family.

Wild Frontier Charity Night

Wild Frontier Square Dance ClubÂ held its annual â€œCharity Nightâ€ on the 4th August, & once again it was a great success even though we had to compete with the Crows! The entertainment from the â€œStrolling Tonesâ€™ was great, & I believe all that attended enjoyed the evenings fun including square dancing for those people that are not into square dancing.

You have to be proud of yourselves as we raised & presented the cheque to the group for $636.00 which was a great effort. All this money will be going to cancer research through the Hanson Research Centre here in Adelaide. Once again thanks to all for the support to worthy cause.

2007 Learners Class Graduation

Wild Frontier Graduation NightÂ

Our graduation night held on the 20th July was combined with a â€œHOT SOUPâ€ supper. Wild Frontier Square Dance ClubÂ graduated 16 new recruits & some other couple repeated the learnerâ€™s class to build their confidence with the mainstream program.

To all the new dancers my congratulation, & welcome to Friday nights & mainstream. I must also give a big thank you to our committee & the special angels that have assisted throughout the 10 months of the class. Learnerâ€™s classes are a big commitment & I do along with the new dancers appreciate their help & dedication.
