Put on Your Glitz

Furthermore we are planning a come and try on the following Sunday afternoon (21st March) with a BBQ for family, friends, couples, singles – anyone who would like to try out some simple introductory square dance movements to see if they would like to join our new learners class starting on 13th May at Kensington Gardens.

If you have any questions or would like to put your name down for our learners class, please go back to our home page and click on ContactUs on the top bar.

New Dance Venue For Our Learners

From Thursday 4th February 2010, we will be dancing in the Kensington Gardens Church Hall in Brigalow Avenue Kensington Gardens.  Brigalow avenue is a turning on the North side of Kensington Road east of Glynburn Road.

If in the past you approached Kensington Park Uniting Church hall from the west the city), just keep driving past, cross over the traffic lights at Glynburn Road, and through the pedestrian crossing lights.  Brigalow avenue is the last turning on the left before the roundabout, if you reach the roundabout, go round it back the way you came from then take the first on the right.  Go along Brigalow avenue, through the cross road and you will locate the hall on the West  (left hand side) about 3/4 the way between Kensington Road and the Parade .  Park in the netball courts in front of the hall (door entry is on the south end of the hall.

The hall has a nice floor with a separate break out supper room adjacent to the kitchen.  It is smaller than our old hall but will comfortably hold 4 or 5 squares (we could squeeze in 6), considering our learners classes have maxed out at 4 squares, this is a great place for learning.

Next Thursday, I will put the following sign on the door to our old venue enroute to Brigalow.  Please click on the image with your mouse pointer to enlarge the picture, then click on the enlarged picture to make even bigger.

New Learners Classes for 2010

Our current square dance class which started in 2009 is going from strength to strength and is a lot of fun as can be seen in the photo below.  If you are interested in learning to square dance please go back to the main page and click on contact us on the top bar.

We will be holding more come and try events like we did in 2009 prior to starting a new class.  Square Dancing has marked health benefits as outlined on our Dancing for Health Web PAge

Come & Try; Give it a Go!

We have now had a couple of “come and try” events with a BBQ thrown in.  Those who came along enjoyed themselves immensely.  If you missed out and would still like to see if square dancing is for you, then you have a couple of chances left to find out.

On Thursday evenings 9th and 16th July we have a free come and try as a lead in to learning all the moves.  Absolutely zero dancing experience and no confidence is almost essential.  So come along and see if you like square dancing.  Sorry there is no BBQ, but we will throw in some light supper.

For more details see our two advertisements below (click on each image to enlarge).

“Give it a go before you say no!”

Another Come & Try Sunday 24th May

If you enjoyed last time, you are most welcome to come again and please, bring your friends.  Please let us know if you are coming so we have an idea of numbers to cater for (we don’t want to run out of food).  Also if you have any special dietary requirements please let us know and we will try (within reason) to accommodate your needs.

You can let us know by leaving a comment below or clicking Wild Frontier Home Page on the top bar then Contact Us on the top bar of the Wild Frontier home page.

SQUARE DANCING ?

This is not really “dancing” (as with fancy steps) its good healthy cardio-vascular exercise; great fun and a good tonic for you your family and friends.  Suitable for anyone prepared to listen to the caller’s instructions and walk at a brisk pace (if in doubt, check with your doctor).  We have found that children generally need to be 8 or more years of age, because they need sufficient concentration to listen to and follow the caller’s instructions.

Square Dance Lessons

The Wild Frontier Square Dance Club Inc was formed in 1973 by our square dance caller Jeff Seidel.  Since that time learner’s classes and weekly square dances have been regularly held in the same hall, located behind the Uniting Church, 286 Kensington Road (opposite the Chelsea Cinema).  Jeff still remains our resident caller and it is fair to say that he is one of the leading callers in Australia.

From time to time we have a fun night where you can come and have a go.  You do not need to know one solitary thing about dancing.  Bring your two left feet.  The evening is suitable for people of all ages provided they are of average fitness (if in doubt see your local doctor).

We will introduce you to a few basic calls and within no time you will be performing like real experienced dancers.  To register your interest, just let us know your name and contact details. When we have sufficient numbers we will contact you and see if we can arrange a mutually convenient evening. There will be no alcohol, just tea, coffee, cordial and some nibbles suitable for your whole family.
